The Department of Historic Properties at Clemson University is dedicated to the stewardship, interpretation and preservation of key historic sites, including Fort Hill (the home of Thomas Green Clemson and Anna Calhoun Clemson), Hanover House in the South Carolina Botanical Garden, and other historically significant properties. The department offers guided tours, educational experiences, and serves as a liaison for campus-wide preservation and heritage initiatives. Through its work, the department connects Clemson’s past to its present, preserving structures, stories and landscapes that shape the University’s identity.
Location Directions : Primary Location Fort Hill – near the intersection of Fort Hill Street and Calhoun Drive on the campus of Clemson University, Clemson, SC. Address for mailing/contact: Box 345615, Clemson, SC 29634-5714. Visitor Parking & Access Visitors are encouraged to use the ≥ 400 metered visitor parking spaces on campus. Metered parking cost: ~$1.00 per hour; payment accepted via quarters, $1 bills, credit/debit cards. For Hanover House: Located at 113 Hanover Circle within the South Carolina Botanical Garden near U.S. 76 and Perimeter Road on the east side of campus.
Hours Of Operation : Monday through Saturday: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM. Sunday: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM. Closed on University home-football game days, major university holidays, special events, staff training & inclement weather. Additional hours available by appointment
